HOW TO GET THE BEST BUNS?
It all starts with your horse/pony's mane. They deserve attention if you want to make beautiful buns. Make sure the mane is clean, but do not use products that make the mane slippery, as this does not help in making a good basic braid. Moist mane usually allows better braiding than dry mane.
WHEN TO USE THE QUICK KNOT® DELUXE STANDARD SIZE?
Make sure the mane is the right length and determine the purpose of the buns. Making the right buns can improve your horse's appearance. If you want to create an optically longer neck, make sure the length of the mane is about a hand's width and make several "smaller" buns. When making these types of buns, we recommend the standard size Quick Knot® Deluxe. The bun you make cannot be thicker than about 3cm circumference due to the length of the pin of 4.2cm.
WANNEER GEBRUIK JE DE QUICK KNOT® DELUXE XL?
If you want to make your horse look like a tough bink with extra-large buns, try a longer and thicker mane with fewer buns. For this, we recommend the XL version of Quick Knot® Deluxe. The buns should not be thicker than about 4.5cm. The length of the Quick Knot® Deluxe is 6cm.
SO WHAT'S NEXT?
Quick Knot® Deluxe is available in three colors, black, brown and white. As a result, there is always a color to match your horse. Divide the mane evenly and use a mane comb when dividing the mane, for example, to create a tight separation between each braid.
Making the braid for the bun
Divide the bundle of mane into three equal strands and braid them into a tight and sturdy braid.
Tip: Braid the mane all the way to the end and fold the braided mane back at the bottom and tie it with an elastic. This prevents tufts of hair from coming loose and sticking out of the mane.
Buns and use of the Quick Knot
When tying braids, make sure you have the proper Quick knot® Deluxe handy. Roll the braid into a nice round bun. Lay out the bun the way you like it. Insert the Quick knot® Deluxe through the bun from behind so that the longest pin sticks out from the front.
Important: Insert the Quick knot® Deluxe straight through the knot. Preferably at one quarter of the knot from the mane crest as shown in the photo below. If you stick the pin lower or miss a layer of coiled mane, the knot will NOT stay in place. Watch carefully how you insert the pin through the coiled braid.
Final step: bend the metal pin
The three side pins of the Quick knot® Deluxe help secure the knot, along with bending the metal pin that protrudes at the front to the left, right or bottom. Now the bun can't move and stays in the position you want.
